If you are still planning your Thanksgiving meal or want to change it up and try something new the Fall Issue of The Biblical Herbal has two herbal recipes for you to try. Sara Davis and I (Tamra Speakman) joined together in the Culinary Herbal Column to share with you an herbed turkey recipe and an herbed challah recipe.
Before sharing my Herbed turkey recipe with you I briefly explain a link between Thanksgiving and Sukkot. Here is an excerpt from that article.
"Like the Feast of Tabernacles, the American holiday of Thanksgiving is a time of giving thanks to God. Both Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) and Thanksgiving are celebrated in the fall and were originally based on the harvest. Some authors actually believe the first Thanksgiving was mirrored after the Holy day of Sukkot."
